For some people losing weight is very difficult. The more enjoyable the exercise you choose, the more likely you are to exercise on a regular schedule. So choose something that you like. For many people, biking is the answer. Learn the ways that your bike can be of great tool in your weight loss plan.

You’ll need to decide on both the style and size of the bike that is best for you. When choosing your bicycle, you’ll probably need some help to make sure you get one that is the right size. Buying a bike from a bicycle store will allow you to get expert advice and also let you test ride the bike before you make a buying decision. You can do some initial research on the internet to see what the various choices are. Then, once you’ve narrowed down your choices to 2 or 3 different bikes, you can go to the bike store to get measured and take a test ride.

After sorting out your bike size, next you will want to get some shoes. If you don’t have the right shoes for biking already, then you should try and get something that is comfortable. Regular sports sneakers like running shoes will work just fine. Get a pair that fits snugly and is also suitable for biking. When purchasing your shoes, be sure to try them on and do some walking to make sure they fit properly and are comfortable.


For going for long rides, be sure to have with you some water or sports drink as well as healthy/low-calorie energy snack or two. You should look at a long bike ride kind of like going on a picnic. Make sure everything you pack to bring with you is healthy and will give you energy. While on your bike ride, you can either choose to eat while you’re riding or you can stop somewhere for a break and have a picnic. If you have a backpack, which you should bring because it is probably the most convenient way to carry things, you can carry everything you’ll need in that. Otherwise, you’ll need some sort of storage on the bike itself.

A first-aid kit is always a good idea to have along. If your bike does not have storage on it, then you can carry the first-aid kit in the backpack. With the backpack, you’ll be able to carry everything you’ll need in one small and convenient place.

Lastly, don’t forget to bring a bicycle repair kit to fix any problems, like a flat tire, that you may encounter.
